AWAPUNI TRACKWORK Tuesday, June 30 By RON GURNEY Floral Art and former smart two-year-old Atenartin worked in great style together at Awapuni this morning. Fast gallops took place on the No 1 grass (slow) and on the plough (good). Floral Art, trained by Peter Didham, and Atenartin (Matthew Eales) used the No 1 grass and were paired over 800m in 50.9, the last 600 in 36.5. Floral Art won three races during her last campaign, including two at the Grand National meeting in August, and has improved a ton since finishing third at the Otaki trials (1000m) two weeks ago. Atenartin, now a rising five-year-old, won the (Listed) Ryder Stakes as a two-year-old, but has not raced since he was an early three-year-old. Not to be denied any kudos this morning were Lisa Latta-trained maidens Love Potion and Lincoln's Kruz (by Kuroshio), who skipped over 800m in 49.2, the last 600 in 36.9. Both horses placed third at recent trial meetings. Desert Magic was in full flight over 1000m in 1.1.8, the last 600 in 37.1, and his stablemate Obrigado recorded 1.5.1 and 37.2. Keep It Savvy and un-raced stablemate Little Oozie covered 800m in 50.3, the last 600 in 37.7, and an Alamosa gelding from the Breslin barn sprinted 600m in 38.5, while Platinum Rapper ended with 38.9. Mark Oulaghan-trained jumpers Des De Jeu and Master Fin matched strides over an eye-catching 1000m in 1.6.1, the last 600 in 38.4. Master Fin was not disgraced finishing sixth at Wanganui (hwt mile) last Thursday. Their stablemate Bruno Kelly, second at the Foxton trials, worked alone over 1000m in 1.8.6, the last 600 in 39.8, while a Zebedee filly and a Dalghar filly, both trained by Lisa Latta, sprinted 600m in 39.5. Un-raced El Hermano four-year-old Jugador, trained by Deborah Parry, ran 800m in 53.5, the last 600 in 40.3, and he finished third at the Foxton trials. The Great Guru and Lincoln Dreamer were not after time over 1000m in 1.11.6, the last 600 in 42.1. On the plough, Young Squire, now trained by Deborah Parry, sped over 800m in 50.8, the last 600 in 37.7. He was formerly with Mike Breslin. A Darci Brahma maiden and a Makfi maiden, both trained by Jeff Lynds, warmed up from the 800m (56.3) to run home the last 600 in 37.8, while an Alamosa gelding and a Zebedee colt, both with Mike Breslin, took 37.3. Prince Turbo and Khalfani were paired over 1000m in 1.4.3, the last 600 in 38.2, while La Donna and a Per Incanto-Miss Centrefold three-year-old, both trained by Anne Herbert, clocked 1.7.1 and 38.7. St Nancy (by Road To Rock) and a Makfi-Shi Kin Fly filly, both trained by Peter Didham, ran 1000m in 1.10.1, the last 600 in 38.1, and un-raced Vespa two-year-old filly Bee Sting sprinted 600m in 39.9. She is with Mike Breslin. Colorado Miss and Trio were on terms throughout 1200m in 1.19.8, the last 600 in 38.2, and Ozil left 1000m behind in 1.10.3, the last 600 in 40.3.
