The Manawatu Racing Club, Manawatu Harness Racing Club and Palmerston North Greyhound Racing Club in partnership with Palmerston North City Council and Norwood are proud to confirm that the legendary rock performer Jimmy Barnes will be performing live at the Central Energy Trust Arena on Thursday 30 March 2017.

Jimmy will perform a 60 minute show on the big stage to open the Norwood Farm Machinery City of Palmerston North Gold Cup Festival scheduled to run from Wednesday 29 March 2017 to Saturday 1 April 2017.

Based around the City Square, the CET Arena, Harness Raceway and Awapuni Racecourse, the Festival will feature activities celebrating the many things that make Palmy great.

On the Wednesday, festivities will kick off in the Square with Kids Carts (Pony and sulky rides) and the heats of the Student Flat Challenge on the activity lawn in the Square.  Thursday is the big concert with Jimmy at the Arena.
Friday will see a dual code Greyhounds and Harness meeting at Manawatu Raceway with music performances, celebrity autographs, displays and the final of the Student Flat Challenge behind the mobile barrier.

Saturday sees the Courtesy Ford Manawatu Sires Produce Race Day take off featuring the Group 1 Courtesy Ford Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes alongside the stage featuring Fashion in the Field, and Young Farmers (male and female) battling it out for the title of “most eligible” amongst many other activities on the day.

To round out the day and Festival, iconic kiwi band The Feelers will be playing all of their timeless hits as the sun goes down.
