Awapuni has good numbers entered for Group 1 day at Otaki:

THEIN LY (Trainer Jeff Lynds) meets a very small field in the first of the day. He was good when winning fresh up at Wellington in running 1.08.67 for the 1200m. He then went to Wellington on the last day of the carnival and was not disgraced when running fourth beaten just over two and a half lengths. He has drawn the ace in the first of the day where Jonathan Parkes will do the riding.

SHARED SECRETS (Trainer Mark Oulaghan) has got better with each outing. She put up a good run for third in her second career start when finishing two lengths off Leading Role. She was then just under two months between runs when rattling home for fourth behind Nicoletta in the G3 Desert Gold Stakes. That run has been made to look better when the first three in that race were the first three home in a G2 at Waikato at there next start. Up to the 2100m in the fifth she gets in on the minimum with 54kg and despite taking on some more older and experienced rivals we feel she can be right in it. Masa Tanaka will take the reins.

ABBEY ROAD (Trainer Gary Vile) was a very good winner on Wellington Cup day when defetaing a good field over the 1600m. He then was freshened and went to Woodville. Unfortunately he jumped awkwardly and lost the rider coming out of the gates. In the sixth on Saturday he is back up to the 1600m and meets an even line up. There is plenty of pace in the race which will suit and look for him to be powering home. Jonathan Parkes will ride.
