Miss Norway and Ringo impressed in training at Awapuni this morning when fast work was held on the plough (good) and on the heavy (holding) No 1 grass.

On the plough, Miss Norway did a quiet round of pacework before picking up Ringo on the second circuit to run 1000m togther in 1.4.3, the last 600 in 36.6. It was nice work. Time honours went to their stablemates Raul (by Magic Albert) and a Fully Fledged gelding, who sprinted 600m in 36.9. Suggest Alot (by Any Suggestion) and Chew The Fat (by Alamosa), unraced three-year-olds trained by Mike Breslin, covered 800m in 50.3, the last 600 in 37.1, while Missmosa and Glengoyne, two more from that barn, came up with 51.6 and 37.2. Nom Du Beel did a quiet round and a half of pacework then picked up a Nom Du Jeu two-year-old to run home the final 800m together in 51 even, the last 600 in 37.5. Cullister paceworked over a round before galloping 1000m in 1.7.7, the last 600 in 38.6, while Wairoa-winning juvenile Ozil and an unraced Ocean Park gelding were on terms throughout 800m in 54.4, the last 600 in 39.7. A Jimmy Choux gelding and a Savabeel filly, both from the Breslin stable, took 57.3 and 39.1.

Talk The Torque has little form to recommend from four starts in a new campaign, but his track gallop at Awapuni this morning suggested another win is not out the question at short notice.

Fast work took place on the plough (good) and on the heavy (holding) No 1 grass. Talk The Torque used the plough and had trainer Deborah Parry aboard over a smart 1000m in 1.3.9, the last 600 in 37.9, and he could get  some of the money in the r75 1200m at Otaki (Levin) on Saturday. La Monnoye, freshened after autumn racing, covered the distance in 1.4.8 and 36.5. Soiree and former northerner Nasheeta (by Smart Missile) were paired over 1000m in 1.5.2, the last 600 in 37.7, while Otaki runners Stephenstihls (r75 1200m) and debutant King Cougar (mdn 3yo 1200m) warmed up from the 1000m to run home the final 800m in 49.5, the last 600 in 37.2. A Fully Fledged gelding trained by Mike Breslin sprinted 600m in 38.6. Mighty Solomon and Five To Midnight were on terms throughout 800m in 51.9, the last 600 in 38.7, and their stablemates Dijon Bleu and The Rippa came up with 54.1 and 39 even. Jessiegee and an Iffraaj gelding clocked 54.2 and 39.7.Raul (by Magic Albert), unplaced in his only start in March, and an Excelebration filly sprinted 600m in 38.1, and they are with Mike Breslin. Last-start winner Al Munroe was timed 1000m in 1.7.2, the last 600 in 39.4. A Cape Blanco two year-old and a Mettre En Jeu three-year-old, geldings trained by Lydia Pickford, ran 800m in 56.6, the last 600 in 40.3.

Wanganui runner Des De Jeu (r65 2060m) did a quiet round before galloping 1000m in 1.10 even, the last 600in 40.7, and his stablemate Counter Attack did similar work, covering 1200m in 1.23.7, the last 600 in 40.8. A Savabeel filly and a Jimmy Choux gelding, both trained by Mike Breslin, sprinted 600m in 40.6. Kamanda Lincoln, freshened for spring racing, ran 800m in 55.4, the last 600 in 41.6, and Dal Kilchoan left 1000m behind in 1.13.1, the last 600 in 41.7. Ready Eddie, in at Wanganui (r65 2060m), posted 1.11.5 and 42.2. Beefeater, preparing for spring competition, dashed 600m in 42.7. He has come back well. Ollie's Note was not after time either with his 1000m in 1.17.4 and 44.4. Wanganui runner Paddy Owen (mdn steeple) went over two rounds at three-quarter pace.

On the plough, Wanganui chance Yin Dragon (r65 1360m) worked alone over a solid 800m in 53 even, the last 600 in 40.8, and he will appreciate the step up in distance again. Platinum Command missed the Whyte Handicap at Trentham last week, but is on song for a consolation prize in the Opunake Cup at New Plymouth on Saturday. The five-year-old mare was not after time in her final trial at Awapuni this morning, but still the caught eye. Fast work took place on the heavy No 1 grass and on the plough. Fog prevented the timing of a few gallops.

Platinum Command was one of just three horses to use the No 1 grass and she cut out 1000m in an easy 1.11.5, the last 600 in 41.8. Three runs back in a new campaign have brought her to peak fitness. Keep It Savvy (3yo 1400m) and Itsagem (r75 1400m), both heading to New Plymouth on Saturday, matched strides over 800m in 55 even, the last 600 in 40.9. They are last-start winners certain to make their presence felt.

On the plough, Soiree and former northerner Nasheeta (by Smart Missile) were paired over a nice 800m in 50.1, the last 600 in 36.8, while their stablemates Allure and Veuve Cliquot covered 1000m in 1.3.6, the last 600 in 37.6. These two will be entered for next Saturday's Ryder Stakes at Otaki. Duplicity, who has not raced since January, worked alone over 800m in 52.7, the last 600 in 37.7, while Wairoa-winning two-year-old Ozil and an Ocean Park gelding stablemate came up with 51.8 and 38.2. Cullister did a quiet round of pacework before galloping 1000m in 1.6.5, the last 600 in 38.4, and a Per Incanto filly trained by Jeff Lynds sprinted 600m in 40 even. Miss Interpreted, balloted out of the r65 2000m at New Plymouth, was given a quiet 1000m (1.20.6), the last 600 in 42.5, and Ringo, also working alone, covered the same distance in 1.20.7 and 43.3.

Yin Dragon and Dal Sir Tee were impressive trialists in separate gallops at Awapuni this morning, when fast work took place on the heavy No 1 grass and on the plough (good).

Yin Dragon, a big improver for the r65 1200m at the Marton meeting on Saturday, used the No 1 grass and had amateur rider Steven Barlow aboard over a strong 800m in 52.9, the last 600 in 39.4. He won a trial at Foxton last month and then resumed with an unplaced run (1400m) at Otaki. Keep It Savvy (mdn 1400m), who continues to work well, and Lincoln Bay were paired over 1000m in 1.10.5, the last 600 in 40.7, while their stablemates Roc 'N' It and Hiphop covered 800m in 54.5, the last 600 in 40.8. Last Chance (r65 1200m), who should be thereabouts on Saturday, and Miss Oahu came up with 56.9 and 40.9.

On the plough, Dal Sir Tee (r65 2100m No 2) caught the eye with his 1000m in 1.8.5, the last 600 in 36.4, and it would pay to forget his last two performances as he steps up beyond 1600 metres for the first time this campaign. Stable apprentice Tim Johnson claims 2kg. Salamanca, who could race at Waikato next Saturday as a lead-up to Riccarton, and Brad Thorn were timed 800m in 48.6, the last 600 in 36.5, while their stablemates Dandeedee and unraced four-year-old mare Sea Ya Later (by Per Incanto), placed at the Foxton trials last month, took 49.2 and 36.9. Unraced three-year-old gelding King Cougar (by Alamosa) and Missmosa, who has not raced since the spring, ran 800m in 49.7, the last 600 in 36.8, while an Alamosa filly and unraced Son Of Surf (Any Suggestion-Surf Patrol), both trained by Mike Breslin, took 51.6 and 38.2.

Three-year-old filly Oonagh (by Thewayyouare), unplaced on debut last month for trainer Jeff Lynds, worked on her own over 1000m in 1.9.9, the last 600 in 38.8, followed soon after by Marton acceptor Heni (open 1400m) and Stephenstihls, who cut out 800m together in 55.2, the last 600 in 40.2. Darryl Bradley has been engaged for Heni. An Any Suggestion gelding and an Iffraaj gelding, both trained by Mike Breslin, were sent 800m in 55.3, the last 600 in 40.3, and unraced four-year-old mare Miss Mindi (by Electronic Al) recorded 57 even and 41.8. She is with Liz Rennie. Blondlign (3yo 1200m), who has posted three successive seconds, sprinted 600m in 42.1. Ticket Clipper, who has not raced for a month, was not after time over 800m in 58.3, the last 600 in 42 even, and In Dreamland, a strong chance in Saturday's maiden 1400m, was kept to three-quarter pace over 800 metres.

Heni and Prosecco looked ready to re-enter the winners' circle at short notice when they galloped together at Awapuni this morning. Fast work took place on the plough, which was bordering on slushy, and on the heavy No 1 grass.

Heni, second in the NI Challenge Stakes then fifth in the Tauranga Classic, and Prosecco used the plough and went full bore over 800m in 48.5, the last 600 in 35.8, which was impressive to say the least. Heni is in the open 1400m at Awapuni (Marton) on Saturday, and Prosecco is due a form reversal after failing to get into the first four at her last three starts. Their stablemates Glengoyne, in at Wanganui on Thursday (r65 mile), and Marton runner Windermere Lad (r65 2100m) also caught the eye when doing a round of pacework before working at speed over 1000m in 1.4.5, the last 600 in 37.4, while Fusion and Talk The Torque (r65 1200m), both from the Parry barn, covered 800m in 52.1, the last 600 in 37.8. Dal Sir Tee (r65 2100m) worked alone over 1000m in 1.9 even, the last 600 in 38.1, and Zac Brown, in at Wanganui (mdn hwt mile), was timed 800m in 53 even, the last 600 in 38.2. Al Munroe (Marton), who was placed second-up at Otaki a fortnight ago, did a quiet round before galloping 1000m in 1.6.5, the last 600 in 39.3, and his stablemate Dal Kilchoan came up with 1.8.6 and 39.4. La Monnoye worked with Marton runner and former northerner Plastic Bertrand (by Pour Moi) over 1000m in 1.12.2, the last 600 in 39.9, while All The Drama (Wanganui) and That's Funny (Marton) recorded 1.9.3 and 40.1. The side winkers come off All The Drama and the blinkers go on.

Unraced Faltaat four-year-old mare Hidden Valley, trained by Liz Rennie, went with Gail Temperton's unraced Nom du Jeu gelding over 1000m in 1.11.4, the last 600 in 40.2, and Stephen Nickalls had a Nom du Jeu gelding go 800m in 57 even, the last 600 in 40.8. Soiree, in at Wanganui, and Blondlign (Marton) went together over 800m in 56.5, the last 600 in 41.5, while Kings Kite (Wanganui) worked post-to-post (1400m), being timed from the 1200m in 1.26.1 and coming his final 800m in 56.1, the last 600 in 41.4. Kermit (Marton) was kept to 1000m in 1.18.7, the last 600 in 42 even, and his stablemate Upper Cut (Marton) did a quiet round first before posting 1.17.1 and 43.8. Miss Interpreted ended with 600m in 45.2.

On the No 1 grass, Keep It Savvy (Marton) worked in company over 800m in 52.8, the last 600 in 39 even, while Bannockburn and Yin Dragon, two more for Marton, came up with 53.5 and 40.4. Trial winner Eva Dawn, who placed third on debut, went with Margaux Glas over 800m in 54.3, the last 600 in 41.3, and Marton runners Thorn Pass and Just You were kept to 57 even and 42.2.
