I have been a member since 1975, yes 35 years. I have been voted on committee since 1980, 30years and currently in my 4th year on the Race Board.
I have had 50 years involvement in racing and breeding the thoroughbred horses.
I am instrumental in the development of the Oaks division and Grand Oaks subdivisions and the renovation of the members stand and the building of the new Function Centre.
I have been a major contributor in obtaining the major sponsors here at Awapuni
To all our Awapuni Club Members remember this is your Awapuni!
Vice Presidents:

I have had a lifetime involvement with Racing and Breeding horses for the last 40 years through my partnership with Fairdale Stud, one of New Zealand’s most successful and oldest Thoroughbred Studs.
The Racing Industry is facing huge changes with internet betting and sports betting, and other forms of betting.
I look forward to making our product an enjoyable and fun day out especially for young people, who – with last generation have not been heavily involved with racing. We can provide the facilities and Racing to hopefully bring them back on-course again.

Farmed at Marton for 30 years, but have recently shifted to Hawkes Bay where working in the building industry. I have bred an raced horses for many years with some early success in the beginning.
Main interest at the moment is improving tracks and facilities, although difficult due to RACE’s present financial situation. Still optimistic about the industry’s future, but seriously question the value provided by some of the highly paid employees of the racing administration.
